My buddy Ben from Germany just sent me a link to a video he made from a tour he took with us in the fall.

His website that he made for it is amazing too.

Check out the site at http://www.fetterbudenzauber.de

...and download the video at http://www.fetterbudenzauber.de/downloads/movies/Budenzauber%20-%20Rookies%20going%20big.mov

Awesome.

Summit chair is fixed, so on to the big stuff. Oh yeah, forgot to link Whitewater up, so there ya go.

..and there goes Joe, flailing off a stupid little cliff to flat.

No, he didn't stick it. Neither did I for that matter. Still steep and deep today. Just ask Barb.

Harley couldn't come out, as usual, so she just stayed in, watched videos, and got wasted.

Oh wait...it got better. Another 2ocms overnight, on top of the previous 50.

I pulled out the new tele's in honour of the day.

Well, that and I managed to wear a hole in my shin with my DH boots. Barb's been suffering with a gnarly one since the 2nd day of the trip.

No time for that though....

It's too deep for little details like that.

Oh yeah...and not even that many people were out AND.....

...the Summit chair derailed at 10:30 in the morning so although rock stars like yours truly got in some prime Summit side runs, the hordes had yet to track it out and it kept snowing all day. Most of the pigs went home early, so we poked around the Silver side for the afternoon and chewed up lower White Queen.

Looks like tomorrow is a sure thing.....

A bit of a theme here. Always with the freshies. Didn't even bother with the camera yesterday. No time. Red has had about 20 cms the last couple of days. Yesterday there was an official overnight of 8 cms, but it was closer to 15 by the time the chair opened at 9am. After 4 or five runs, the upper chair clsed due to high winds and Barb and I got 'stuck' on the Paradise chair. Seems that most of the few skiers out on the hill missed the last ride to the top, and it just snowed harder. You could simply ski the same line every run and it had filled in, then straight onto the chair. The last run was epic. We had untracked Powder Fields (untracked fields of joy!)...all 2120 vertical feet of gladed natural terrain. Takes me back to the glory days of the mid 90's

Easily the best day of the week.

Until today, also known as Phat Tuesday.

Too bad they said 30cms on the radio. Not too many places of business open today I'll bet.

..and another shot of Barb rippin the pow.

It warmed up a bit so the bombs were flying, and it was a bit heavy for sure, but just as the hardcores calledit a day, it cooled off and the north side got way lighter. We pulled a full day today, not stopping until the final bell at 3pm.

Could it get any better than this?

Home hill time. FINALLY....the quad is open. Bottomless turns everywhere. As usual, the snow is a bit thin early in the year, but then again I was all over the hill and in the woods all day long and only hit 2 rocks.

That's gotta be an Apex record.

12cms overnight, and around 30 in the cycle.

A little Fireball in the outtabounds helps too.

More Okanagan pow with Barb.

First off, let me say congrats to Team Canada for winning the gold at hte World Junior Hockey Championships. For a team that wasn't supposed to make the medal round they did pretty good. Bummer that team USA folded so badly. That Czech game seemed to take a lot out of them. Too bad, I was looking forward to the final with all North America. It would have been a lot closer than the savaging that our boys laid out to the Russians. Good players, but lousy team.

For the Dirty South respondent, don't be so down on yourself. Stand proud. You should never have to feel ashamed of who you are. Unless you hold your sign upside down......

Anyway, on to the ski trip. First up was Silver Star. A friend of ours who works there hooked us up with a great package for a couple of days, and wouldn't ya know it? It snowed.

Buckets.

The cool thing about these shots is that they were taken after lunch. It was like we had VIP runs or something. Tons of snow, no lines, great terrain.

Seriously check it out. The hot apres ski spot would have to be Long John's Pub. Mandatory sing-a-longs on powder days. Seriously, check it out.

The World Junior Hockey Championships are in Vancouver right now, and we got free tickets to the quarter finals. Team USA vs. the Czech Republic.

SCORE!!!

You actually get a better idea of how good our seats were by clicking on the picture.

Row 6, sweet eh?

Now, before my American friends get all upset about the following images....I gotta make a couple of points. First off, it's hockey, the unofficial national sport of Canada. No prisoners my friends. Also, there is a certain percentage of Americans who really bring it on themselves. To wit.....

Um....yeah. Allow us to retort....

Mostly due to Jack Johnson's cheap shot the other night vs Team Canada (if you don't know, then you won't care).

Anyway, it was an awesome first period, and the whole game was pretty good except for the Czechs continual sucking at one-timers on the power play. Even though they out played the US, they lost 2-1. The US goalie (a Vancouver Canuck draftee, no less) really saved this one for the yanks.

Here's to the USA and Canada in the final. It'll be a good 'un.

Well, I managed to get up this afternoon for a little spin. P-Dub, Kelly, and our old buddy Skip joined in for a New Years Day romp on Seymour. Skip recently emigrated to Canada (well, he's here for a year of school as of last night, and he could be convinced to marry a local and settle down).

Kelly has already settled down some. No fear here....

P-Dub always looks shit-scared to me.

...and Skip.

Thanks for breaking the bandwidth limit. Thats 40 gigs of freeriding goodness last month that got downloaded. Guess I'm gonna have to up the capacity again soon.

Lets have a look at the stats for the past year then....

Visitors: 70 000+

Top referrers: nsmb, freeridesouth, and Cove Bikes

Some selected popular search phrases: "spanking"," see more butts"," jo burt mint sauce", and of course the infamous "bra on head".

Might ride bikes in a few hours if I feel up for it.
