If you're really gonna go Full Boar, make sure you do it right. Like by staying up late comparing tattoos by the fire. This fine example would be a carp.

I of course have no tattoos, but I appreciate that one nonetheless.

Els continued to regale the crowd with her invisible bongo technique.

The view from the tent in the morning....

Oh...the humanity. I kind of liked the fact that my cooler kept "magically" refilling last night, but the added fact that it was a neverending supply of Kokanee wasn't exactly a good thing when judged by the harsh light of day.

And now a bit of a flashback to the year 2000, when the original Full Boar Challenge was run. This year marked 10 years for the Full Boar Bike Store, but it's going to be a couple years more for the Full Boar Ten Year. Anyway, here's how the tradition started.....

Barb, the original Full Sow....*(I'm gonna pay for that I think).

Team On Top, in Hairy Dog mode.

"I'm never drinking again...."

Midnight at the camp.

Noodles, racing for glory.

Race? What's that?

...and now back to our regularly scheduled program, already in progress.

Mitchell had the right idea.

Ashek and all the Fireball he drank last night finally agreed to disagree, shortly before his run.

Oh yeah, you may have noticed that it snowed.

GO!!!!

Meanwhile, after the race.....

Huge props to Karly and the rest of the girls for making this event actually happen. trev ight be the inspiration, but these girls are the only thing holding this gong show together.

Spy vs Spy.

Sprinting for the finish.

Mason got 5 of a kind to win the cruiser.

Simon won the 30-39 men, and his significant other (our pal Fiona) won the ladies division. A good haul for our possee.

Uh huh......

Like I'm gonna waste a day I could be riding Harper doing another trail that I'm going to ride on Sunday anyway.

Some NV locs showed up late last night to join in the late season festivities. Actually, I wasn't sure where everyone got too until we found out that Sven got lost in the woods in his Westphalia and burned a clutch out.

Hey, at least Dorothy got to ride today.

Rob from Kelowna also met up with us and shredded a day on Harper.

Ryan too....

Unfortunately the clutch issue ended up burning a bunch of our daylight, so we were a bit rushed getting our three laps in. The sun goes down a LOT earlier at this time of year, that's for sure.

Not that we had a bad session by any stretch...

But we did pust the sunset right to the end.

..and when we got to the Full Boar, look who we found?

Yup, that would be our pal Els playing the invisible bongo drums.

A bit of the typical gong show for the tenth year Full Boar Challenge. I guess Hunter likes guys that drink Coors Light.....

Well, Ryan is still here and it's the 10 year Full Boar Challenge so we decided to head up to the 'Loops a bit earlyto do the whole experience right. We got to town just in time for sunset at the Ranch.

Yeah, so I Photoshopped the colours. I know....but they never turn out like they actually look, so a fat warming filter #5 to you all.

Ryan hasn't really sessioned one of these clay walls before, so it took him a couple of runs at it to get the line and the timing dialled.

This local grom had it, but the light was only good for about 90 seconds.....

Oh well, at least I got this one.

Oh wow. Another local ride to add to the inventory. XC riding....weird. I must be getting older or something. What do you think, Barb?

Right. well, the Smith Creek "Gruel" isn't exactly an inviting name for a ride, but as we found out it's not really all that grueling. I guess if you tried to mid-ring it all the way up it would be a bit tougher, but overall it's pretty mellow.

A few views, and 8 km of buff Okanagan singletrack carry you up to the top in about an hour to an hour and a half.

There's a few short technical sections to push your anaerobic threshold, but mostly its just a spin.

Oh, and the occasional "obstacle" in your way.

Harley finally moved outta the way.

The top has a decent view, and there's some old decrepit log rides to fall off.

Once again, Harley got outta the way in time.

The descent is fast, open, scenic, and is puntuated by little jumps every few hundred feet.

Oh, and there's even a few rockfaces to play with.

Throw in a handful of big gaps (20-30 footers) here and there in the woods and you've got yet another reason to come up and visit.

Ryan came out last year with some regulars from Orange County, California. He liked it so much that he moved up to Whistler for the summer this year.

But all things come to an end, and his trip ran out like his money. Here's his last few days of his canadian experience, spent with us in the interior.

A little warmup sesh on the local stuff. I'm still in awe of where I live. Really, there's only 3 trails up behind us, but they are full of little options and alternate drop in points.

We got our skinny on a bit more than the huck today. Something about fall...

Well, Ryan always manages to grab some good air.

Hey, whattya expect when the sun shines outta your ass?

We also ran into some of the Vernon locs down for the day, like Jaysin and Sheffy.

And also Rob, who's back on the bike after a 15 year hiatus. I think he's remembering pretty good....

Another blue sky day in paradise. We lined up some Penticton action today, as yesterday was going to be impossible to top.

Just as well that we stayed sort of local. The harsh shuttle roads finally took their toll on the van. Here's what a busted lower control arm looks like.

Luckily with a bit of ingenuity we were able to get the van out of the bush to where it could get towed.

Oh, and it didn't stop us from getting a ride in, even f it was a little bit shorter than I'd planned.

I love mine too.

I got a last minute call from my broker the other day. Seems like he was in town with some other riders I've met over the years. These guys are powerhouse Shore riders, and are responsible for a lot of that great trail work you've wondered about for years.

They also happen to build ski resorts like Cypress and Revelstoke when they're not riding. Overall, some good folks to know.

Oh, and they know the trails up here almost as well as I do, so once again I get to put the guide's pack away and just ride. Looks like we've got a good venue for today....

A 2 lap day off of Kobau is an undertaking. This stuff rarely gets ridden, but when it does, it's often this guy...

They sure aren't shy, this bunch.

We shredded this one in short order. Apart from some minor mechanical issues, it was a smooth and fast run.

RUN!!!! It's a giant mug!!!!

That damn thing just won't leave us alone.

Our only sunny break in the first lap. I guess summer IS over....

If you need any hot stock tips, call Dave. He knows which way the winds blowing.....

After raiding the orchard at the bottom (which is the very one where Ambrosia apples first came from, and still the best source for them), we headed up for round 2, which was off the other side of the mountain. I rode about 3/4's of this trail the year it was first built, but we missed a large portion of it due to it being os little traveled. It's been so long since then that it was pretty much like riding a new one all over again.

Traditional lost in clearcut pose....

We didn't remain lost for very long, and nailed the line soon enough. You know it's pretty rad when you see Shore boys walking on the logs....

Of course the immigrant (Peter emigrated years ago) showed up the natives...

Inukshuk need goat milk latte with madagascar cinnamon. Now! Inukshuk has spoken....

Round 2 is much longer than round 1. Here's the halfway point, where it gets a bit tougher....

The crew...

A few hits and ramps are inthe lower half, and a bit of a sketchy road gap. Mainly, it's just the steep factor that makes this trail hard.

Good thing it ends at Tinhorn Creek Winery. Gotta keep up appearances.....

Well, we gotta go home today, but as usual we're in no hurry.

Check this next pic for about 20 reasons why. Just too much to do in that town.

We had a late breakfast n the Puddle (mmmmmmm, Gecko Ttree). When look who we ran into?

Yup, Mr. Bjorn "GET IT OFF!" Enga.

You're a freak, Mr Enga.

I guess after pigging out on your arm like that the Mug has changed it's habits...

We actually rode today. Something in the 'Loops I hadn't seen yet.

But today was all about us, so I mostly left the camera in the pouch.

Thanks for hooking it up, Tyler. Had an epic time, as usual....

Hello Mug....making friends?

Time for yet another fresh trail. Prime and Endless is the new trail off of the back of Desous, and it's just what it says.....

although we did manage to find one reason to stop for trail maintenance. Leave it to Tyler to have a saw in his pack.

The key to this whole trail is this section right here. Shreddies said it took him two years to find the route through this rock band.

The mist was more than just eerie today, too. The moisture made for some seriously slick conditions. I was seriously concerned that we were going to get skunked on my plans for the afternoon.

Somehow we slithered down to the bottom in more or less one piece. You can just make out the Fraser River there in the background.

OK, gambled and won. Farwell Canyon, dry and sunny.

Lap one. the Classic line.

These guys haven't seen Farwell before, which is the best way to experience it.

Just like ROAM, but in person.

See em? Way down there, those specks are.....us.

Todays guide, driver, and all round solid rider Cory drops in.

Barb, as per usual, keeping pace.

Oh, and she can also sleaze it up with the Mug.

Too bad Tyler has bigger tits....

His ass leaves a little to be desired....

Go get him, Kat!

The rest of the girls heading down the Fingers.

That's me....

...and my truck.

Time for round four (we ripped another Classic when you weren't looking)...

With an interlude for a UFM (Unidentified Flying Mug...oh wait, that's Dan's mug).

More killer freeriding across the Chilcotin grasslands.

OK, tighten your sphincters. It's Godsmack time.

I was having some serious fear issues today, but I still went for the thumb.

Can't figure why I'd be scared....

At least I got it over with. Those chumps are still waiting for their turn.

OK, there they go.

Cory had the only clean run on this spine.

Simon wasn't so lucky. He kind of smeared out at speed.

Tyler chose a more tech line.

The boys spotting the rest of the crew a few spines over.

Cory leads the way down the chutes.

Simon warps down after him.

This line just keeps on giving.

Meanwhile, back up the ridges, the rest of the crew is still working the spines.

Kat is in there someplace. That girl has some serious guts. She was almost shaking at the top, and went for it anyway. Real courage......cool.

Tyler, not sure what's coming....

Finally, he spots the key to the line and sends it.

Barb, in full control, was just waiting for a clear run.

Our lines, with the Mug for scale.....

Kat meanwhile, had gotten hung up a little. Seems she's never ridden without an actual trail before. We went back up the gullies to help her out, but by the time we climbed up she'd extricated herself. Still, I managed to get this nice pic, and Barb found a toonie in the sand. Silver linings.....

That bike getting any lighter, Ty?

And so ends the biggest single post in Bush Pilot TripLog history. 50 pics.

Cheers.....and a very happy birthday to my Mom.

Ooooooo.....the Puddle. We got here early, but Tyler and company didn't pull in until really late. Oh, and due to my casual style of instructions they got a little bit lost. Luckily, they brought some girlies with them to get them back on track.

Like how Barb is navigating this log on Hillbilly Deluxe...

We hooked up with some locals, as always. Here's James Doerfling, of Radical Films fame and fortune, flinging himslef on one of the many killer booters to be found in the Puddle.

Our pal Simon (who was kind enough to show us Gold River earlier in the year), was along and hit up a bunch of the road gaps to be found out there.

Oh James....

Same hit, but weird angle. Look close, he's fully clicked on that one.

Hi Tyler...

Holy V-Tach. Barb is nailing huge hits every time we go out now. That's a road gap, boys.

Simon gets the score evened for the boys....

....but then Fiona nailed it right after. Yeah......the girls were killing it again today.

Our other lovely lady, Kat, shows us her potential as a hand model. Lucky Mug....

Lots of new work inthe Puddle this year. With the full approval of government, the trails are being expanded up there.

They're not holding back much either. About the only concession they've made is to have most of the wooden structures in one area to make the insurance issue easier to deal with down the line. Huge gaps and drops are everywhere, and these skinny lines are awesome, if a bit taxing (and hard on the chin if you miss).

The old standbys like Sick and Nasty are still there.

And they can still put the fear into the stoutest heart. Fiona almost hit a tree and put the fear in mine, let me tell ya....

A post ride session in Shreddies hot tub and some good times with the mug finished off a spectacular day.

I got a random call the other day form Tyler over at PinkBike. Seems like he had a hankering for a road trip with no real goals other than to ride bikes and have a fun time. Hmmmmm, sounds like the perfect excuse to hit up Williams Lake, since I hadn't been up there in over a year (wow...how time flies).

And Barb had the weekend off. Perfect.

On the way, we stopped in at Merrit to investigate some vultures we saw flying around...

Then, just past the dead coyote, we found this HUGE line.

I ain't hitting that. It's a little something the boys at Freeride Entertainment knocked together for the new NWD film. 40' stepdown, 80' floater, some berms, and then...

....a 30 footer, a 40 footer, and a huge hip. Vanderham says it's pretty smooth. I'll take his word for it. Oh, and I'll take the coffee.....you took possession of my soul quite some time ago.

The Puddle is a good 90 minutes closer now, and a far easier drive than ever. Man I miss this place...

Uh oh.......the Joker and the Mug. Quite the criminal duo...

And now..the continuing story of a boy and his mug...and his pink hoodie.....and matching Crocs.....and bike with steering wheel and knuckle duster....

Make up your own caption if you think you can do better. Anyway, Derek and I went out to Revelstoke to check out another BC epic, the Keystone Standard Basin. As an added bonus, we've managed to abscond with the now famous Mug, whose adventures are being chronicled HERE.

The Keystone is an out and back ride in the alpine near Revy. As you can see, the scenery is pure rubbish and the Mug is a better climber than Derek.

Note also the first snowfall of the season out there. Could this be a sign of things to come this winter (as of today, Oct. 4th, it sure seems to be. freshies galore all over BC)?

Overall, probably the best XC singletrack since the Chilcotin stuff I did last year.

You gotta look close in these next two to see Derek in there, struggling through the scree piles.

Unfortunately, the skies clouded over for the morning, but we still had great visibility in the epic landscape up here.

Looking back, we could see another crew of riders out for a lap today.

Once we got out to the cabin that was our destination, the skies cleared and we got some bonus blue skies at lunch.

A random local meets Mug.

Can't leave the cabin without a couple of staged shots of Derek riding by the lake.

"This sucks..."

"Totally..."

About halfway back, we ran across a whole stack of locals taking in the views.

Which makes for a good spot for a pnaorama. Click it to blow 'er up.

Even more locs showed up as we enjoyed the views.

Mug, Karen.....Karen, Mug. Karen is in charge of season pass sales at the new Revelstoke Mtn Resort. Good person to know.

Look a little closer at this next one. Care to guess how far the drop is off the edge of the trail there? I'd say at least 500', maybe more.

Looking back towards the end of the ride. Still a goodly distance to go...

"No Snowmobiling" Get the impression that there's a bit of snow up here in the winter?

Derek enjoys a refreshing dip. Mug says, "Screw that."

Instead, Mug relaxes by menacing this paraglider.

For you geography geeks out there, I've been playing around with Google Maps and have this adventure plotted out OVER HERE.

...they just get bigger shocks.

My homeboy Derek showed up today and is getting all up on the freeride action in Westbank. He even maged to hit up some gaps (when I didn't tell him they were coming anyway....).

What? It looked comfortable last night....

Off to Penticton today for a Bog session. ShortRound got some satisfaction the Jeep Line.

Javi killed the teeters...

..and Josh killed everything.

There was a bit of a session later on with an old gap too. Everyone was stepping it up.

Including Barb, who counts this as her biggest air to date. Roughly a 30 footer.

A nice all round scenic day, if you'reinto that sort of thing.

Looking fast...

Looking sorta stunned...

Lookin' goooood.

Oh, so out of order on these shots.....here's Josh on that gap.

Near the end there's this sand pit drop....

...which kind of snuck up on Javi.

This is more like how it SHOULD be done. Actually, for allthat she was kind of scared of the sand, Linds killed this line the best.

Josh, making the most of the day....

Just kidding, Shortround. I know you like the goats better....

OK, some new terrain yet again for us today. We dropped in to the 3.5km etrace to Powers today to check out the new hits that the crew have been working on. They're not quite ready yet ( and maybe a bit underbuilt), but they're pretty sweet nonetheless.

Brad had no problems with it.

I never noticed this littel addition before either. Nice RST shocks.....

How about two riders on a stunt at the same time?

3How about 3? They must all be related...

Cool seeing guys that like riding EVERYTHING. So many people are just into one aspect of riding these days.

Holmes here is a dyed inthe wool BMX'r who has recently made the switch. Like they say, "Real men ride whatever the F%$# they want."

We already knew about Willy. He even cleans the broken stuff (although Javi styled this the best, but I didn't get a good shot of it).

More young'ns on big logs.

Now you can see the BMX stylee.

Of course, not all the airs went as planend. Then again, not everyone has a BMX background....

We got a little sideways before this session was done.

I think he likes it.

Sideways in both directions actually.

Shortround even got a little bit bent here.

Pushing the envelope a bit more. It's just like BMX.

Really.

OK, a first here. Shortround chucks a road gap. Way to go, girl.

Yeah Willy, we already knew that you could do the big'uns.

Javi on the Shenanigans stepdown, proving he can hang with the Hicks.
